Radford Ingles died Dec. 15, 2005, at the age of 80 in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
He was the son of George W. Ingels and E. Mae Bletner Blake Ingels born Aug. 3, 1925, in Mason City, W.Va. He graduated from Wahama High School where he excelled in football and basketball.
He married his high school sweetheart, Gail Tulloh, in January 1947.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the famed 90th Infantry Division of the 3rd Army under Gen. George Patton. The 90th Infantry Division is the most celebrated combat division in the United States history. he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Combat Infantry Badge, the World War II Victory medal and the Bronze Star. Radford worked at the Kyger Creek Power Plant, Foglesong Funeral Home and the Mason Drive-in Theater.
In California, Radford was personnel manager for B.H. Hadley and the Ball Brothers Corporation. At age 65, he became the Business License Enforcement Inspector for the City of LaVerne and worked there until the time of his death. he was so loved and admired that both the Mayor and City Manager spoke at his service and the flags were lowered to half-mast over the City of LaVerne.
Radford was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, E.M. Blake and George H. Ingles.
He is sadly missed by his sons, Ron (Rose) Ingels and Paul (Mary) Ingels; and grandchildren, Ron, Paul, Robby, Katie, Amber, Lauren and Christopher. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Mary Ingels; and nieces and nephews, Cherole Burdette, John Blake, Candy, Jason and York Ingles.
Funeral services and burial took place at Forest Lawn Covina Hill, Covina, Calif.
