Longtime NBC broadcast engineer Harold Clayton Ingels died at age 60 in Sequim, where he was building a retirement home.
He was born in Annapolis, Md., to Albert C. and Elizabeth F. (Philbrick) Ingels. He married Clairette E. Pola on Jan. 28, 1967, in Northridge, Calif.
Mr. Ingels was a longtime resident of La Canada, Calif. He worked for NBC in Burbank, Calif., for 35 years, and was a broadcast engineer for "The Tonight Show"' with Johnny Carson. He was a two-time Emmy Award winner and a five-time Emmy nominee for his work at NBC.
While in California, he was a member of the Radio Disaster Preparedness Committee as a ham radio operator and also worked with the La Crescenta Sheriff's Office, in emergency communications.
He served with the Army at Fort Ord and was a member of the Elks Lodge of Pasadena, Calif., and treasurer of NABET Union Local 53.
Survivors include his wife, Clairette, and son, David Ingels, both of La Canada, Calif.; and a daughter, Michelle Ingels, of La Crescenta, Calif.
Services: Will be held in Pasadena, Calif. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
