Laura Artllla Dooley, Albert's oldest child, wrote this story to her nephew, Donald Dooley: "Caroline and her brother, Albert Hudson Dooley, lived for some time with their half-sister Artilla Barnes Underwood. On up the road further, a mile or so, lived the Ingles family -- large imposing house and well-kept barn. This family consisted in part of several boys. Mr. Ingles was an influential and prosperous citizen. One day in the town of Atchison he noticed a little boy crying as if lost. He investigated, found that the boy was a foreigner, and had evidently been abandoned. They were able to determine that his name was Joseph. The last name of the child seemed, as nearly as they could understand the boy, to be Kickesolor. Mr. Ingles arranged to adopt the chid and he became Joseph K Ingles. Albert Hudson Dooley, Caroline Susan Dooley, J K Ingles and Laura Frances Lancaster (later to become the wife of Albert Hudson Dooley) all went to the Good Intent schoolhouse."
Donald adds, "This school was located near Atchison KS just over the county border in Doniphan Co. The purpose of relating these events is that Caroline Susan Dooley married Joseph K Ingles Apr 5, 1870. They were married at the home of James R and Artilla Barnes Dooley Underwood in Good Intent, KS."
