Lon William “Bill” Ingels, 84, Atchison, died Monday April 18, 2011 at Atchison Medicalodge.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund or Technology Endowment Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Bill was born October 22, 1926 in Atchison, the son of Alonzo Filmore and Della Bryan (Lewman) Ingels. He attended Franklin Grade School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1944. Mr. Ingels was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He owned and operated the Ingels “Full Service Gasoline Station, in Atchison for many years. He also worked for Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home for several years after he retired. Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had served as an elder. He was a former member of American Legion Post 6, and V.F.W. Post 1175 of Atchison, and McDonalds Coffee Club.
He was married to Doris Jean Higley, on May 23, 1948 at First Christian Church, Atchison. Doris Jean preceded him in death on May 18, 2002. Survivors include a son, David (Linda ) Ingels, Atchison, four daughters, Mechelle (Jim) Underwood, Atchison, Robin (Larry) Zabel, Atchison, Julie (Tom) Wutke, Springfield, Mo., and Joy (Bart) Lennington, Atchison, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter. His parents, a brother Curtis Ingels, a sister, Mabel Walker, and a granddaughter, Marianne Wutke, preceded in him in death.
